The jury in charge of selecting the projects for the BilbaoArte 2025/26 Grants was composed of Alain Urrutia, Sahatsa Jauregiy Tania Pardo.

ALAIN URRUTIA (Bilbao, 1981) lives and works in Berlin. He graduated from the University of the Basque Country and the Brera Academy in Milan in 2004. He was an artist in residence at the MA Studio (Beijing, 2011) and at the Rogeland Art Centre (Stavanger, Norway, 2008) among others.

Urrutia has displayed his work at international art venues including the Boston Centre for the Arts,CA2M Madrid, Artium Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

His work analyses new readings of pre-existing images by fragmenting and reconstructing their reality and eliminating their own story through painting; a game of shadows in which, through black and white layers and resources such as reframing and concealment, some details are highlighted to produce images with a certain degree of mystery.

SAHATSA JAUREGI (Itaparica, Brazil, 1984) is a sculptor who lives and works in Bilbao. She approaches sculpture from a folk art perspective, and her work explores the triangular framework defined by people, objects and spaces. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country (EHU), where she currently teaches in the Department of Sculpture.

Throughout her career, she has received various awards, including the first Ertibil Prize (2017), the Gure Artea Prize (2019) and the ARCO Community of Madrid Prize (2023). In 2024, she was awarded the prestigious Botín Foundation Grant. Her work has recently been exhibited at leading institutions such as the Artium Museum in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Azkuna Zentroa in Bilbao, Tabakalera in Donostia, Patio Herreriano in Valladolid and the Reina Sofía National Art Museum.

TANIA PARDO (Madrid, 1976) .She holds a degree in Art History from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She is a curator and researcher, and is currently director of the Dos de Mayo Art Centre Museum of the Community of Madrid, where she previously served as deputy director and advisor on visual arts for the Community of Madrid (2019–2023). Prior to that, she was head of the Exhibitions Department at La Casa Encendida in Madrid (2015–2019). She has also curated exhibitions at MUSAC, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Castile and León, and was in charge of programming at the institution’s Laboratorio 987 space. She served as project director at the Santander Foundation 2016 (2009–2010) and as a lecturer in Art History at the Complutense University of Madrid (2014–2020). She is currently a lecturer on the Master’s in Curatorial Studies at the University of Navarra and the Master’s in Cultural Management at Carlos III University. She has worked as an art critic for Revista Lápiz, El periódico del Arte and Babelia in El País; she currently writes texts for exhibition catalogues, teaches courses and seminars on contemporary art, and serves on various juries for awards and competitions related to contemporary art. As an independent curator, she has organised exhibitions and projects in various venues and institutions, both nationally and internationally. She recently curated the exhibition *Dialecto CA2M. A History of Art Told from Móstoles* at the CA2M Museum, alongside Manuel Segade; *Almost 400 m² for Two Landscapes* by Mitsuo Miura, in co-production with Da2 in Salamanca; *The Origin of Forms* by Cristina Garrido; Teresa Solar Abboud’s Pájaro Sueño de Máquina, in co-production with MACBA and the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin; Sol Calero’s Buscando Guanábana ando yo; Jacobo Castellano’s El espacio entre los dedos at Sala Alcalá 31; and, most recently, Dorothy Iannone’s Una y otra vez. She is currently preparing the exhibition Cada cierto tiempo se lee el mismo libro by María Gómez. It runs various educational programmes focused on social inclusion through art, such as the COSMORAMA programme, which takes place in various prisons across the Community of Madrid.
