Andante Winterreise is a video installation based on Winterreise, one of Franz Schubert’s most important works. Schubert merged the 24 poems by Wilhelm Müller to create a Lied, which describes a walker going through a winter landscape while he reflects on existence and the meaning of life after being rejected by his beloved.
The artist creates a 76-minute film, consisting of 24 fragments, which follows Schubert’s work. The lyrics describe the landscape and the feelings of the main character and that winter landscape becomes his inner world. The psychological and mental state represented by the walker’s inner world reflects a cultural and social crisis of conscience.
