Although her artistic universe crosses very different territories and investigation, a definitive and defining constant is imposed in many. As this piece shows, the artist from Alicante likes to combine the female figure and nature. Landscape and figure establish a dialectic process captured by Buscando un lugar para morir I [Looking for a Place to Die I], and where many of personal and intellectual concerns of Cristina Ferrández Box are reflected.
The artist herself stresses how she likes to establish links between the socio-economic fabric and the future of the natural environment from an ethical and aesthetical perspective with a clear green sensitivity. Reflections and proposals – pulsating with a desire to regenerate cultural and natural spaces – are attached to this dialogue, as questions arising from the photographic expression itself.
There is undoubtedly drama in that image that disturbs and seduces, that welcomes and squeals, by introducing a female body, whose presence adds discord, into the landscape; a question that will be answered – or not – by those viewing the work.
Cristina Ferrández (Alicante, 1974), graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Castilla la Mancha, and works in the area of artistic creation as a reflexive and critical process. She works on visual projects that showcase the territory, by reviewing and questioning our relationship with the landscape.
