June Crespo often uses collected graphic materials, which she then works and incorporates into a sculptural installation context She thus brings into play a strategy of de- and re-contextualization that subjects her ‘images trouvées’ to the stress of estrangement. In this case, for example, a calendar showing naked women is torn from its usual virility-reaffirming function in exclusively male environments. Its scanning by a woman artist appears as an enigmatic action at first glance, not foreseen in the social assignment of uses of the object, and which therefore opens up unprecedented destinies.
