Claudia Rebeca Lorenzo’s art starts with her observing her immediate environment and the landscape, where she seeks a material and sensitive approach to her figuration, which is subsequently captured in images or objects. Her sculptural process seeks to address questions of form and space, of contour and colour, of structure and of organisation.
Como ropa de verano [Like Summer Clothes] was produced during her residency at BilbaoArte and was subsequently exhibited in ‘Alrededor de una cabeza’ [Around a Head]. A project where the artist’s starting point was a head or bust and the idea of variation, concepts used to create a series of pieces. She produced different combinations, always drawing on the same forms, castings of a model’s head or of balls, and working in layers. Her way of embarking on these pieces involved the materials meeting head on, where the natural and fluid came up against the industrial and the immobile.
