El Templo Ruderal [The Ruderal Temple] is an installation produced during Anat Moss’s residency at BilbaoArte in 2023, conceived around the ongoing concept with which the Rudera Project works: Electro-pagan Rituals. This work process consists of specific and collective practices of space-time, which explore speculative spirituality that seeks to free the mind from the values of capitalist society based on patriarchal religions. For this specific project, the artist draws on the essence of the temple: a space as an energy generator that hosts community rituals, raises the spirit, facilitates active listening and meditation. During the residency, the artist explored ruderal medicinal plants and the feminine spirituality of Mother Earth, as a means of collective and individual healing and deliverance. The temple gradually took shape by weaving red yarns, creating fabrics using screen printing and painting, working with voice and sound, video and light. The first collective ritual took place on the summer solstice, on 21 June 2023, with a group of women celebrating together. That was followed by the BilbaoArte Open Doors from 26 to 30 June.
