A man and a woman witnessing how their union is being endorsed by ritual. It is content with universal value and steeped in symbolism. Both images retain sufficient traces of the ritual circumstance (the white dress, the top hat), while reinterpreting the couple in a fantasy way. Halfway between the mythological being and the surrealist mannequin, this bride and groom lay claim to being archetypal figures that can act, perhaps, as guides to interpret and steer our existence. The compositional similarity with Tarot cards, which have traditionally embodied that possible reading of images subject to mass circulation, is therefore no coincidence.
