Alberto Lomas’s art lie between the technological and the social, in the form of performances and audiovisual installations. His work seeks to generate situations, usually linked to technology and its underlying languages; it is a critical scrutiny of the limits of the individual and the construction of identity in today’s society. He uses different mediums – installation, video and other technological media, and action – to produce his work. He addresses personal and contemporary problems by introducing himself (literally or metaphorically) as a pivot where his questioning positioning of the uncritical acceptance of the new technologies is relevant. This is all from a lo-fit – nearly Do-It-Yourself – strategy.
Alberto Lomas (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1967) is a contemporary artist whose work includes disciplines such as installations, video art, performance and the use of technological media. He currently lives and works in Bilbao where his career has focused on exploring themes such as identity, the limits of the individual and the impact of the new technologies on society, where he questions their uncritical acceptance.
