In 2012, Ibai León produced his Landscapes series, consisting of different paintings, photographs and illustrations depicting different landscapes. Each of the pieces depicts a fictitious place, non-existent flags, treated as a political and social symbol. Each landscape recreates a postcard, a desire for escapism.
Minnesota, in acrylic enamel on tarpaulin mounted on a wooden structure, is one of the pieces of the series. The name is written on a greenish structure at the top. An illustration of a non-existent landscape, where mountains are shown jutting out of a black field, hangs from it using orange washers. It conveys strength, as if it were crossing the limits of the paint and becoming an object.
