A series of paintings in oil on canvas seeks to depict a series of buildings inspired by New York and San Francisco, all of which are from a human perspective. Michael Grudziecki recreates surreal streets where he mixes buildings from both cities, and there compares and highlights the injustice of the buildings of ‘inner city” neighbourhoods.
He uses broad brush strokes and energetic lines to depict large buildings by means of low angle views. The colour range is rather monochrome, stressing the sadness of unkempt residential developments. Any sign of life has been emitted, creating solitary, empty scenarios. A diagonal series of aeroplanes in the sky are remote from what is happening.
