Mikel Eskauriaza’s focus is on the transformations of the contemporary landscapes and on capturing their memory. Abandoned suburban spaces, disused architecture, neutral spaces that no longer have their original function are the subject of his observations. This work is part of a project structured in four parts, entailing a photographic observation of a place in Getxo from 2004 to 2007. The process involved the artist analysing the dialogue between the architectural elements and their relationship with the immediate environment. The work is an analytical reflection on the limits and failures of urban planning and how it can become a vehicle for social control and organisation.
