Sin título [Untitled] is part of the process carried out for the development of the project Paintbrush Theatre, which concludes in 2010. The residency period at BilbaoArte Foundation allows the artist to experiment with the relationship between painting, the plane, the figure, the background, and the three dimensions; which in this case is translated into a model of a space dedicated to the performing arts.
Fullaondo always starts with the desire to paint a picture, although it is the action that drives the project, allowing her to develop new ways of creation, different paths to continue working. Collage-making, cutting, gluing, tearing, drawing, painting over, and breaking many drawings are part of her creative process. All this is done to find an image that she finds interesting. Shapes and stains that repeat and systematize, seeking a context. A context that becomes a stage simply by lifting two drawings. And drawings that take form on wood or foam board, creating a playful space that extends and pushes painting into installation.
