The empty city, the absent city, the half stellar half suburban city, the playground, the post-capital city. A city resulting from supercilious commitments to hyper-exploitation and methods for immediate growth, an ideal space, a decorated, cosmetic space. Forms that conceptually flirt with the idea of archaeological remains and the hypermodern waste. Material diversity. A world of excess that awaits its presence in the fictitious display cabinet of history.
There is an (apparent) human need to exhaust natural resources to transform them into profit. How does society relate to its past? With which of its pasts does it relate? History can be as arbitrary as the one who writes it… One way of addressing the events of times gone by is to focus on their true protagonists: archaeological remains, recovered but also altered to be exhibited in museums. History and the present are always disguised by the interest of those who seek to remain, but it is in the waste and the layers accumulated over time where the small truths survive.
