Writer starts from a series entitled Berlin Diary, photographed in the city of the same name during the winter of 1999-2000. David believes that street photography is first and foremost the reflection of real life without any alterations, without prior intent; it consists of detecting specific fragments of life worthy of being immortalised; they are usually stand-alone photos where a unique story is conveyed in a single image. What the artist likes about street photography is that the main characters are the small moments of life.
In this series, he adopts a more introspective and diarist’s gaze, focused on the everyday, the fragmented and the apparently trivial. The images act as visual notes, almost as if they were entries in a personal diary, where the artist observes gestures, urban scenes and anonymous figures; Berlin appears more as a lived space than a recognisable historical scenario.
