COURSE «Shoot, develop and contact sheet»

Following a practical session in which a 36-exposure film roll is shot, the workshop combines theory and practice to introduce participants to the black-and-white process and contact sheet printing.

Gaizka de Arbeloa Perozo will be teaching this workshop, which will be held from 27 to 29 April. The registration period runs until Wednesday 22 April.

The main objective of this course is to provide autonomy and confidence in the home developing process, thereby democratising chemical photography. Film photography is currently booming, but in addition to taking photographs, an understanding of this technique is necessary to complete the process. Therefore, in addition to a group outing in which a roll of film will be shot, so that the conditions are the same when it comes to developing, the following steps will be taken to put this into practice.

Basic concepts of developing and the necessary chemicals and baths (developer, stop bath and fixer) will be explained, as well as the practice of properly inserting the film into the developing tank. There will also be a contact printing exercise, with each person producing a contact sheet from their developed roll of film. This will explain the basic knowledge required to understand the conversion from negative to positive, thus achieving a physical medium.
