On Friday 17 April at 7.00 pm, the URIBITARTE40 Gallery at BilbaoArte will open the exhibition ‘Some Possibilities (based on rubbish and simulation)’ by Miren Doiz, an artist-in-residence at BilbaoArte in 2011 and 2024–25.
As part of the opening programme, on the same Friday, 17 April, at 6.00 pm, the artist will offer a free guided tour.
The exhibition will be open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm and from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm, and on Sundays and public holidays from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm until 31 May.

Some Possibilities (Using Rubbish and Simulation) starts from the works produced during her residency at BilbaoArte from 2024 to 2025; they emerged from her personal concerns as a precarious artist as regards what is happening in the world from an environmental, social and political perspective. Thus, availing herself of items she has found (Objet trouvé) and retrieved from the street, she explores housing speculation, reforms, evictions and waste generation, along with simulation and our impact on the environment.

After studying at the Pamplona School of Arts and Crafts, she graduated in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country in 2003. She furthered her studies at the Escola Massana, Arts and Design School in Barcelona.
Her accolades include the Pamplona Young Artist Award in 2003, Navarrese Young Artist Encounters Award 2005, Estampa DKV Prize 2015 and the grant from the Pollock- Krasner Foundation in 2014/2015.
Her many group exhibitions include Art Situations, curated by Vicente Todolí, María de Corral, Lorena Mtez de Corral and Ilaria Gianni at Villa Croce in Genoa, at MACRO in Rome and at Matadero Madrid in 2015. 8 Extraordinary Spatial Questions, curated by Virginia Torrente at Tabacalera Madrid in 2014. Before Leaving. Ideas on Painting, curated by David Barro at MAC Unión Fenosa, or A Shot at Cursed Painting!! A Proposal of Juan Ugalde at 2011 at MUICO, A Warning Shot, curated by Ángel Calvo Ulloa and On the Tightrope, curated by Pablo Flórez at the Heinrich Ehrdhart Gallery in 2009. Doiz has had two solo shows at the Moisés Pérez de Albéniz Gallery. Her work has been shown in Berlin, Mexico City, São Paulo, Bogota and Rome; it is in collections such as those of the Coca-Cola Foundation, the Contemporary Art Collection of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, the Contemporary Art Collection of Pamplona City Council, the ICO Museum Collections and the DKV Collection.
