Paint is a project that stems from the artist’s reflection on the construction of the image based on Jacques Rancière’s text, ‘El trabajo de las imágenes. Conversaciones con Andrea Soto Calderón (2022).

Beyond her capacity for representation, the artist understands the image as a liminal space between reality and its displacement, a device capable of articulating an experience of estrangement and an aesthetic experience of awe. Building on these premises, the artist’s practice is driven by the desire to recompose a possible (unseen) world, where familiar meanings (of the given) are unsettled in order to release a new image (of the other). In other words, appropriating a device originally created for cognitive representation, with the intention of corrupting it to establish a methodology of the visible.

Blanca Castro Ponce (A Coruña, 2002) gained her Degree in Fine Arts at UVigo, Pontevedra and later completed a Master’s degree in Painting at EHU (2024-25). In 2023, she participated in the III Reinosa Artist Residencies with Refugallo (Cantabria) and received an Honourable Mention in the XLVII Casimiro Sáinz Painting Contest (Reinosa, Cantabria) in 2024.
