Celia Viada Caso

Visual artist, anthropologist and filmmaker. Her artistic practice is primarily centred on non-fiction and experimental film. She creates films and audiovisual works that are also presented in installation settings, in which she blends past and present, poetry and essay, narrative and abstraction, reality and fiction. She works with images, sounds and texts, using materials drawn from various archives: photographs, films, videos, texts, documents and other found objects that form a fundamental part of the fabric shaping her projects. Her practice explores the creative and ethical possibilities offered by the reuse of found materials in art, viewing the recycling and interweaving of these materials as a gesture that is both creative and political.

Celia Viada Caso (Madrid, 1991). She studied Anthropology and Media at Goldsmiths, University of London (2013–2015), completed a Master’s in Creative Documentary at the UPF, Barcelona (2018–2019), and is currently studying for a Master’s in Art Research and Creation at the EHU, Bilbao (2025–2026). Her practice focuses on non-fiction and experimental film, combining image, sound and text and working with archival material. Her major projects include ‘Volver a casa tan tarde’ (2025), winner of the X Films award at the Punto de Vista Festival and the Best Spanish Film Award at L’Alternativa in Barcelona, amongst others, as well as being nominated for the Doc Alliance Award 2025. With her debut film ‘La Calle del Agua’ (2020), she won the FIPRESCI Award for Best Director, the Audience Award and the ALMA Award for Best Spanish Film Screenplay at the Gijón International Film Festival (FICX).
