Drawing on diverse interpretive frameworks—from Hans Belting’s An Anthropology of Images (2001) and Carlo Rovelli’s The Order of Time (2017) to Geoffrey Gorer’s The Pornography of Death (1955) and Ernesto De Martino’s Death and Ritual Mourning (1958)—his work engages with both theory and lived experience. Rather than being bound to a single medium, his practice adapts to the expressive demands of each piece, with sculpture serving as his primary language of exploration. The installation space is approached as an integral part of the work itself, becoming the means through which a relationship is established between the individual elements. The viewer plays an important role, placing themselves at the centre of the investigation, and becomes involved in the work through various sensory stimuli.

Giuseppe Di Liberto (Palermo, Italy, 1996) is an artist whose practice focuses on installation, sculpture and performance, exploring death and its rituals from a social, cultural and political perspective, with influences from texts such as those by Hans Belting and Ernesto De Martino. His work, which is not bound to a single medium, uses the installation space as an integral part, involving the viewer through sensory stimuli. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, where he graduated in 2018, and completed a master’s degree at the same institution in 2020.
