(Bilbao, 7 April 2026). BilbaoArte, the Bilbao City Council’s Centre for Artistic Production, opens the application period today, Monday 7 April, for the “2026–27 Production Grants” scheme, aimed at supporting artistic projects through the provision of studio space at BilbaoArte.

A maximum of 11 grants are available, to be awarded to artists participating in mobility and exchange programmes, as well as guest artists at BilbaoArte. These grants are aimed at professional artists who can demonstrate and substantiate their track record and experience in the relevant field.

Applications must be submitted by email, sending the registration form and all other supporting documents to convocatorias@bilbaoarte.bilbao.eus, indicating in the subject line the type of grant being applied for and the name of the applicant.

The deadline for submitting applications is 10 May, and the list of successful applicants will be announced by 10 June. The grants will run from September 2026 to July 2027.

The current call for applications continues to increase the funding allocation in recognition of the artist as a professional within the art sector. Thus, each project will receive a gross monthly grant of €1,350 (€13,350 over 10 months), designed to enable artists to contribute to the National Insurance Scheme, with the consequent rights and obligations arising from this.

The production grant, combined with the facilities and resources made available (individual artist studio, access to the centre’s other infrastructure in its various production workshops, the possibility of accommodation, an advisory and support service, the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition, amongst others), is reflected in general conditions that allow for greater and better dedication to the development of their artistic practice.
