Flor [Flower] is part of the solo exhibition Axila, que robo sobaco, held at BilbaoArte Foundation in 2023. A project that encompasses three phases of the same action focused on the sexual act of a fictional character, combining disciplines such as video, performance, textile art, and sculpture to introduce the viewer to a character, a fetishistic alter ego.

The work is a sofa, and at the same time a sculpture. Made with a steel rod and tube frame, foam, and fabric, it forms the shape of a black silk flower, a flower where one can make love. The artist seeks the most attentive, individual, and personal gaze to engage with her artistic practice.

Maider Aldasoro (Mexico, 1992) holds a degree in Fine Arts from UPV-EHU, including an Erasmus at Norwich University of the Arts in 2013. She also holds a Master’s in Art Research and Creation from the Complutense University of Madrid. Her practice blends costume design, sculpture, and video performance. She has participated in group exhibitions such as the XXXVI Muestra de Arte Joven in La Rioja 2020, Ertibil Bizkaia 2021 and 2023, where she received second prize. She has done residencies at BilbaoArte Foundation, culminating in the solo exhibition Axila, que robo sobaco, and at Azkuna Zentroa/ Alhóndiga Bilbao within the Babestu program, which supports creation, presenting another solo exhibition Aurrean Goxo at the same center. She has participated in B.A.C.E PROJECT, a program aimed at the internationalization of young Basque artists directed by Eugenia Griffero in collaboration with the Culture Department of the Biscay Government, leading to a solo exhibition at Art Lacuna in London in 2022.
